Trip CinqueTorriLocation:Cinque Torri are located near the Falzarego pass connecting the Badia and the Ampezzo valleys.(Italy, north-east, Veneto region) The Cinque Torri are pretty known among lovers of Dolomites. They offer a range of options when visiting them. You can have the very easy way using a skilift, some nice easy walk up (2 hours), a roundtrip of about 4 hours extendable with two sidetrips on the top of two peaks, or a little more demanding trip with longer hiking up and even climbing on the top of the towers.
These mountains may not offer great altitudes but the landscape near and far is really fantastic. Starting point:Most people like to start from the Falzarego Pass, going for the round trip. For those with little time or weaker constitution the skilift from alpine hut "Bain De Dones" to alpine hut "Scoiattoli" is the best choice. If you need a better workout you can start from Pecol right above Cortina D'Ampezzo or from Selva Di Cadore. And yet another possibility is to start from Passo Giau. If this is not enough you might look for a detailed hiking map to see all the tracks and best choose your trip.
Round Trip:Whether you do the trip clockwise ore the other way around is up to you. I find it more enjoyable counterclockwise.Starting from Falzarego Pass take the track 424 down to "Pian Dei Menis", there you take track 440 up to alpine hut "Scoiattoli". Here you can spend some time observing the Cinque Torri, roaming around, get some food. The trip goes on, track 439 leads up to Nuvolao pass, there is alpine hut "Averau" . If you are looking for extra side trips, then you can go up to Nuvolao peak. The second option is a via ferrata (eqipped route) to the Averau peak. Back on track, the round trip leads from Nuvolao pass to Averau pass following the south walls of Averau. From here you can take track 441 back to Falzarego pass, or you follow track 419 to Limedes lake and from there on track 422 and 441 to Falzarego pass.
