Trip Armentara
Location:Armentara is an area of meadows and forest situated at the foot of the Sasso Della Croce mountains. It ranges aproximately from 1800 to 2000 meters altitude. We are in Italy, north-east, Alto Adige region, the Badia valley south of the city of Brunico. The upper part of the valley called Alta Badia is where this beautiful area is situated. Starting point:The Village of Pedraces can be reached by car or by pubblic transportation (bus), from there you walk to San Leonardo to the east (8 min).Trip:From San Leonardo you can either hike or take the ski-lift up to the top at Santa Croce. There lies a chappel and an alpine refuge, here in the picture with the Puez group in the back.
From there you go up and shortly after take the track to the left. You can take three different routes to cross Armentara, the one I chose is the upper one, track 15b. This one is leading close under the rocky walls of the Sasso Della Croce.
Sasso Della Croce Following the track there is a lot to enjoy, see more pictures and Panoramas
The track brings you to Spescia, from there you can descend to Pederoa where you can take the bus back home or to your car. Or... You can still go on over the San Antonio pass to the Fanes pastures and on to San Vigilio or as I did, take a track to Rit. From Rit you can again descend to Pederoa as mentioned above or you descend on the other side down to San Vigilio as I did. |
